TROUPE SYLLABUS 

  • EBSDN TROUPE INFORMATION 2023 

  • Everybody Sing and Dance Now. (EBSDN) 

  • Our main goal is to always have a safe platform for young performers to perform on.

  • EBSDN aims to also provide a fun and friendly dance competition in a professional environment. 

  • We encourage ALL our performers and audience members to clap and cheer for all studios. 

  • What we are most grateful for -  is your continued support, always.

  • STAGE SIZES

  • Illawarra - 12 x 8  tarkett with wings.

  • Ulladulla - 12 x 8 stage with wings and tarkett.

  • Griffith - 12 x 8 tarkett with wings.

  • Bankstown - 

  • Caboolture - 10 x 8 stage with wings and tarkett.

  • Sunshine Coast 12 x 8 stage with wings and tarkett

  • Nerang 12 x 8 stage with wings and tarkett. 

  • AGE OF DANCERS IN TROUPES

  • Age cutoffs for all age groups are as of 1st January, 2023.

  • What it means is - the age they are, as at the 1st of January, 2023.

  • If in the event the performer is born on the 1st of January, you can choose which age category they will perform in. 

  • The age group limit is determined by the eldest member of the troupe.

  • The oldest dancer must be at or under the age group you enter.

  • We will  allow a maximum of two (2) performers, no more than one (1) year older than the age group to participate in a troupe.

  • EBSDN IS NOT AN AVERAGE AGE COMPETITION.

  • TROUPE SIZES & LIMITS

  • EBSDN ONE DAY COMPETITIONS.

  • At our ONE day TROUPE competitions, each studio can ONLY enter up to (2) troupes per section in each age group. We will also cap studios at our one day competition to a maximum of 25 troupe entries. EBSDN Troupe ONE DAY competitions, large and small troupes will be run simultaneously in the same sections, but if we have enough to split, we always will.  

  • At EBSDN regardless of one day or weekend competition, we need in each section a minimum of 3 troupes for that section to go ahead. If a section cannot go ahead due to low numbers, EBSDN will merge with other low entries to make EBSDN TROUPE VARIETY

  • Weekend competitions will always start as follows below.

  • Saturday - 12 Under. 14 Under. 16 Under. Seniors.

  • Sunday - 4 Under. 6 Under. 8 Under and 10 Under. 

  • One Day Troupe Competitions will start as follows below.

  • 4 Under and 6 Under. 8 Under. 10 Under. 12 Under. 14 Under. 16 Under and Seniors. 

  • AGE GROUPS

  • Own Choice sections can include – Demi Character, Acro, National Character or  a third routine i.e. if you have 3 x 12 under Jazzes, etc etc.
     

  • PRIZES

  • Each section will be awarded a prize for 

  • First (1st)

  • Second (2nd) 

  • Third (3rd) 

  •  Highly Commended as determined by adjudicators. 

  • Troupe Encouragement Award will be determined by the adjudicators.  

  • We announce the  results at the end of each age blocked session to ensure that we maximize the full day.

  • ENTRY and ROUTINE REGISTRATION 

  • Each troupe routine will be individually entered online at the cost of $30.00 / per routine. Registration and payment for all routines will be done via our easy online booking form on our website - www.ebsdn.com

  •  EBSDN has also put in place – pay in 8 weeks for troupes if you enter early.

  •  Each studio can enter up to 2 (two) troupes per section in each age group, at our ONE DAY competitions.

  • EBSDN TWO DAY competitions, each studio can enter 3 (Three)

  • EBSDN ONE DAY competitions will be capped for all Studios to a MAXIMUM of 25 troupe entries. 

  • For each section in each age group to go ahead a minimum of 3 troupes is required.

  • After you have registered your studio and completed the payment for your troupe routines, EBSDN will be in touch with a proposed schedule for TROUPE DAY or TROUPE WEEKEND.   

  • Studio owners will be required to provide us with a list of your routine names, on registration and you will also be required to provide us with a list of student names who are performing in each age group.

  • This needs to be completed as soon as you have entered your troupes online.

  • DANCER REGISTRATION

  • Each dancer will be required to register for the eisteddfod to participate. 

  • This is a very easy process for parents and can be done via TryBooking in an easy-to-use online link. Dancer registration is $5.00

  • One dancer registration is required for the duration of the competition and each dancer will receive a wristband at TROUPES. 

  • Tickets for all spectators will be available  via TryBooking, we will have a limited amount of tickets at the door, as well. Parents will need to purchase tickets if they wish to attend.

  • Once our studio owners have completed their online registration Jen or Penny will be in touch with the studio directly to help them inform their dancers of the following. 

  • Troupe Dancer Registration Will Open - ALL NSW & QLD TROUPE COMPETITIONS – 1st January 2023

  • Dancer Registration Will Close - ONE WEEK before each troupe competition.

  • The dancers who do not register during this time will be unable to participate, until the $5.00 registration fee is PAID. It can be paid at the venue, but it will be $10.00. All dancers must complete a Dancer Registration to be eligible to compete in EBSDN TROUPE COMPETITION.

  • EBSDN DRESSERS IN CHANGE AREAS.

  •  We ask that each studio bring along 6 -10 parent dressers for Large Troupes.

  • 4 to 6 dressers for Small Troupes, that are attending for EACH AGE BLOCK session.

  • Please note, change areas are that, once a dresser has completed their task, we ask that they return to the audience.

  • We ask that if a parent is NOT changing they MUST not be in the change area.

  • Lately, we have noticed many parents in change rooms, drinking coffee and catching up.

  • A change room is a change room, if you have fathers dressing, please let Jen know.

  • We do have separate areas at some of our venues for Dads dressing their children.

  • If we know, we can then create an area they feel comfortable in. 

  • MUSIC and MUSIC UPLOADS. 

  • All music, lyrics and dance attire must be age appropriate.

  • The length of troupe routines must be no longer than 4 minutes. 

  • All music should be submitted to EBSDN via MUSIC UPLOADS – www.musicuploads.com.au

  • It is the entrants who must understand and adhere to copyright responsibilities.

  • EBSDN will not be held responsible for any infringement of copyright, royalty or privacy laws by individual performers or persons associated with the performance.

  • Please be sure to have a backup of your music in the event that we need it. (Backup on a USB, or phone/laptop etc.)

  • EBSDN uses Music Uploads.

  • THE MAGICAL PROPS

  • Props can be used; however, it is the entrant’s responsibility to place them in the allocated prop area, label them correctly, and bring them on/off stage throughout the competition.

  • Safety is paramount in the use of props. Props must be built off stage, carried, not dragged onto the stage. 

  • EBSDN does not take responsibility for any injuries caused by the use of props.

  • Any props left over at the conclusion of the event, will be placed in the bin. 

  • Free standing props with a 45 second time allowance for preparation is permitted.

  • All props must be removed immediately after the troupe has finished the routine. If the floor is littered during a routine from costumes or props, dancers must be prepared to clear the floor immediately after the routine is finished.

  • We ask that you supply 2 helpers for large props and 1 helper for small props. 

  • NO POWDER. GLITTER. WATER. MIRRORS. ETC ETC is to be USED! 

  • Damage to the floor by props is the sole responsibility to the Studio!

  • ALL TAP TROUPES ARE TO WEAR TAP COVERS AT ALL TIMES!!

  • NO PRACTICING TAPS IN CHANGE AREA AT ALL

  • EBSDN GENERAL TROUPE  INFORMATION

  • Performers enter at their own risk. EBSDN accepts NO responsibility for any accidents or injuries to any persons associated with the event, either as a Performer, Volunteer or a member of the General Public, at any time.

  • Competition Director/s can overrule any of the below rules at any time. 

  • The Competition Director/s shall decide on any matter not covered by these rules and its decision on any questions or dispute shall be final.

  •  Privacy is paramount to EBSDN. We will not distribute any information of our entrants to any third party, it is purely for EBSDN purposes only.

  • By submitting your entry, you agree to receive marketing emails from EBSDN, from time to time. EBSDN reserves the right to change competition days or move location due to unforeseen circumstances and entries will not be refunded. 

  • The plea of lack of knowledge of the rules will not be accepted as a bona-fide reason for the infringement of any rule. The use of photos/videos for marketing purposes is granted to EBSDN upon receipt of a paid entry.

  • VENUE INFORMATION

  • Wollongong, Ulladulla, Bankstown and Sunshine Coast Troupe venues can hold 450 people in the audience for each age block.

  • Caboolture and can hold 150 in each age block! 

  • Nerang can hold 250 in each age block.

  • Once tickets have sold out, no other seats will be made available.

  • CANCELLATION and REFUNDS TROUPES.

  • Although we have managed EBSDN competitions at the HEIGHT of COVID -19 in the past, sometimes circumstances can still be taken out of our hands. 

  • EBSDN will always put the safety of our performers, teachers, your families and our staff first and foremost!

  • Due to COVID -19 – If at any point the Government changes the rulings of events, EBSDN will move venues or reschedule our competition date. 

  • There will be no refunds as before each competition has started, we have already paid out for many many things for TROUPES. 

  • We will transfer the funds directly to our next available event, like we have done in the past.
